Feeling Stuck?
“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.” Exodus 14:15 (NIV)
Do you ever experience feelings of being stuck?
Maybe you know what God is asking you to do, but the “how” isn’t clear, so you stay frozen. Caught between where you are and where you’re called to go.
Am I the only one who lets fear talk me out of obedience?
The Israelites were there too.
Pharaoh’s army was behind them.
In front of them lay the Red Sea.
Their response? Panic.
Moses tried to reassure them.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (v. 14)
God’s next words might sound insensitive, but to me, his words sound urgent, wanting them to move - now is not the time for words, but action.
“Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.” (v. 15)
God wasn’t unkind. He had already made a plan. He had already promised deliverance. The path was prepared, but they had to move forward in faith.
That speaks to me, and maybe it speaks to you too.
Waiting on God sometimes means stillness, yet the truth is, He may be waiting for our next move.
Moving forward might look something like:
Having the hard conversation
Establishing a boundary
Applying for that job
Forgiving someone
Starting counseling
Or even introducing yourself to the new girl at church
It may feel small, but if God is prompting it, it’s a step of sacred obedience.
Take one step into the shallow water if you’re stuck on the shore today.
Today’s reflection:
Where in your life do you feel stuck?
Right now, what could “moving forward” look like for you?
Prayer:
God, I need help to take the next step. Even when I don’t see the full picture, I trust that you’re already making a way. Give me the courage to move forward. Amen.
